When these were introduced I was asking myself: who are these devices intended for?

Lets face it, in the corporate world companies will have highly specialized PROFESSIONAL software that ether ONLY RUNS on x86 systems OR is unacceptably constrained/restricted when emulated on other platforms.

Casual computer users have mostly migrated to their Cell phones or Tablets.

If you REALLY need a keyboard+mouse you may of migrated to a "Chrome" device and make use of Google Cloud apps and ecosystem.

Given that 'bottom of the line' Intel & AMD powered system offerings are readily available for less than $400 (WITH WIN11!) to compete with the Chrome devices mentioned above, where does the X Elite systems fit in?

I'm sorry but at their current price point and usefulness, I can't imagine a use case where these devices are the least bit attractive over other options that are available.

Since my Qualcomm powered smartphone is obsoleted in less than 5 years because of dropped support. Why would anyone think these will fare any better?

I bought one as a secondary laptop to tinker with and can agree that they need to pay more attention to GPU drivers, performance is just not there and updates are rare. Also I can't use my TV with 60Hz, while it works fine with nvidia laptop. Battery life is better than on intel laptop, but not night and day and, maybe because of oled screen, I can't run it for a week without charging like some youtubers say, there is just no way even in battery saver mode. CPU performance is just on par. But compatibility with software is good and laptop is really quieter than intel one.

The GPU performance is lacking. And the CPU performance needs to be alot higher then AMD or Intels because x32/x64 programs are emulated and that takes a lot of performance.

Lmao, that's some 10% short of ALL AMD and Intel chips combined. They are lunatics if they really expected that, no words.
