Quote from: bhffs on November 20, 2024, 23:25:59The 5090, 4090, aren't really consumer cards. They are enthusiast cards. The 5070 will be an excellent card for average consumers.
They are consumer products (as opposed to pro-grade hardward for workstations), enthusiast is just a marketing label to justify this as "it's expensive but it's really good, so it's worth it".

Fyi: enthusiast is not the typical consumer. The same can be said for business class products.

As we saw and continue to see with the 4090, hardly anyone will be getting their hands on it at MSRP, scalpers will be having a field day again! 3k minimum for 5090!

I really hate the approach of leaking a high price tag, get everybody to expect it, only to release with a slightly lower (but still high overall) to give the impression that it isn't that high after all.

A $2000 price tag for a consumer GPU, even top of the line, is still stupidly high.

According to a new report, the GeForce RTX 5090 may not be quite as expensive as earlier rumours suggested. With that being said, overclocked variants could still exceed $2,000 in the US.
