Quote from: The Werewolf on November 16, 2024, 04:48:59It's weird how when Apple finally releases something as small as a NUC, everyone suddenly starts comparing all the PC NUCs to Apple's one try at it... which they didn't even get right (really - power button on the bottom?), as if now, magically, only the Apple product.

It's kind of sad.
And the most bizarre thing was that many of big and "reputable" YouTube "reviewers" went straight-up to claim that there is no any smaller PC on the market than the new Mac mini. Not smaller and more powerful (Dave2D at least said that), but just "nothing is smaller than this" (MKBHD clown, for example, amongst many others). While there is a hell lot of smaller ones with very similar performance to the new Mac mini.

Hi, I notice the review states dropped frames during 4K video playback, and I see that the screenshot shows the VP9 codec instead of the AV1 codec. Is decoding done with the same codec for all tests? The screenshot also shows the CPU, but unless hardware acceleration is disabled in the settings of the web-browser, the focus should be on the GPU, which is where the video processing is handled. Maybe the video playback would be better if it was tested in AV1.

True.
Pretty much the whole tech press has always been heavily bias when it comes to Apple products.

Y'know... PC NUCs have been around for over ten years. I know you guys know because you've been writing about them for years.

Why is there only 4GB of VRAM, and can it be increased to 8GB?

Beelink is upping the ante in the mini PC space by incorporating AMD's latest Ryzen 9 CPU before most other competitors. The price has also risen accordingly, however, making this one of the pricier offerings from the manufacturer.
