since Samsung already has two smaller foldables, the larger tri-foldable will likely be more expensive than their existing line, but probably not significantly higher than the Huawei phone.

the c-configuration would necessitate a separate smaller (outer screen) for use when in the closed position. the z-configuration uses opposing hinges to close leaving a usable outer screen section when closed.

Samsung has considered multiple different layout/designs for their tri-foldable phone back in 2021/2022. c-type configuration designs shown in this article & a design similar to the Huawei Z-configuration. their biggest hurdles were a stronger flexible screen & hinges & battery life.

QuoteSamsung's first tri-fold smartphone could overcome a major weakness of the Huawei Mate XT

Unless that weakness is "price" (and I'm betting it's not) then it's irrelevant.

If you can't afford to buy one, then the feature set is literally pointless.

Being banned in the U.S. is a huge weakness.  Samsung doesn't have that weakness.

According to a new report, Samsung's first tri-fold could measure up to 10-inches across in its unfolded state. However, it may do so with a completely different design than the one showcased earlier this year by the Huawei Mate XT. In the process, Samsung's foray into the world of tri-fold smartphones could surpass the durability of Huawei's first attempt.
