Quote from: M-FAIL on October 30, 2024, 22:11:09performance per watt has just been officially thrown out the window to now match pre-M-series MacBook wattage.

That must explain why so many are returning their M-silicon MBPs to switch back to older Intel versions, right?

Definitely can't count the amount of people who did this on 1 hand.

QuoteAdditionally, the base 14-inch MacBook Pro with an Apple M4 comes with a 70 Watt charger out of the box. A 96 Watt brick will cost you $20 extra. Thankfully, this restriction applies only to one model. On the flip side, all 16-inch MacBook Pro variants (M4 Pro/M4 Max) come with a 140 Watt charger out of the box.
LOL all that "ARM efficiency" and performance per watt has just been officially thrown out the window to now match pre-M-series MacBook wattage. only took 4 generations for Apple to cave and finally offer flagship performance that is still worse than Intel or AMD.

Base specs are decent for the price, but the prices for upgrades are becoming ridiculous.

Same image on the box, same default wallpaper. So that "leaked" M4 MBP with that Russian YouTuber guy was legit after all.

Air is for those people with such usage, but you are completely right about everything else you said.

New 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4

The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M4 is the ideal choice for entrepreneurs, students, creators, or anyone doing what they love. Featuring a more powerful 10-core CPU, with four performance cores and six efficiency cores, and a faster 10-core GPU with Apple's most advanced graphics architecture, the new MacBook Pro starts with 16GB of faster unified memory with support for up to 32GB, along with 120GB/s of memory bandwidth.

Wow, this is lame, to limit it at 32 GB of RAM.

If only they added one (JUST ONE) legacy USB port and allowed for user replaceable battery and ssd, this would be a great computer to own.
