It can only be deemed a 'disaster' if the competition is doing much better. In this case, they really aren't. Zen 5 doing what, less than 5% better in gaming? Even the x3d variants which are apparently meant to be better are said to only be 8% better. So in retrospect, Arrow lake being -2% from raptor lake isn't such a big deal, since zen 5 seems so close to zen 4 anyway.

Where? Which forums or videos? I've not had time to go through them get but will eventually. Could you specifically state which ones? Afaik, they're mostly saying this year has kinda been tragic for hardware from all sides in general. At least there were some decent releases for games this year.

Quote from: JUAN_pcbox on October 25, 2024, 18:10:30Why would anyone buy this newly released CPU that costs $100 more than the 5700x3d ?

Not getting a zen 3 CPU in 2025. It's a 4 year old architecture at this point. And Zen 3 is actually quite terrible for rpcs3 emulation. Even Alder Lake does way better.

5700x3d might seem like it's well priced and a good deal now. But it really isn't. It's kinda a shame because it would of been quite a decent CPU had AMD not delayed the duck out of releasing zen 3 x3d parts for so long. They should of released this when zen 3 launched or at the very least along side the 5800x3d launch. Paying $200+ for essentially a 2 or 4 year old CPU (depending how you look at it) is disgraceful.

Quote from: JUAN_pcbox on October 25, 2024, 18:10:30AMD you can upgrade it for 7 years

As already mentioned by Paviko. There's no upgrade path for users of zen 3. If you're a zen 4 user, struggling to see any reason to upgrade to zen 5. If you're x3d user of any variant. You're good until another 5 years and arm or riscv takes over in desktop space.

Apart from gaming, arrow lake seems decent. Also since intel isn't in the best state right now. I'm more inclined to believe they'll do price cuts much faster. Unlike AMD who seem to be resting on their laurels and probably won't do another significant price cut until zen 6 in 2026-2027.

The pricing of AMD parts is obscene. Charging $300 for a 6 core cpu. Even mobile CPUs are given more cores for cheaper. But unlike them, being on 3nm, they're on the much cheaper 4nm process. AMD must be making a killing with margins here. Or would be if anyone was actually buying them.

The 5700x3d has better performance and is about twice as energy efficient as the 245k. Why would anyone buy this newly released CPU that costs $100 more than the 5700x3d ????
I will buy 245K if 7800x3d won't drop to 350$ again. 9800x3d will probably be 500$ - not worth it for 4k VR gamining. 5700x3d is AM4? You won't see Zen 4 or  Zen 5 on AM4 , so this platform is dead like Intel.

Other advantages of AMD you can upgrade it for 7 years while with Intel you can't.
Zen 10% vs Core -10% if you see the comments on Youtube they will SHOW YOU the reality, I don't think thousands of people are wrong

Intel's newly announced Arrow Lake-based Core Ultra 9 285K and Core Ultra 5 245K don't offer much in the way of gaming prowess. While they're more power efficient than last-gen counterparts, Raptor Lake still reigns supreme in raw performance.
