I'll believe it just as much as I believe Linux will eventually dominate the market.
It's good to have more options but to beat Microsoft, you have to play dirty like they do in terms of marketing to keep the monopoly going. You can look for videos on how Munich tried to ditch Windows in favor of Linux but they reversed the decision later. I'm sure Microsoft had a role in that and made an offer they couldn't refuse. The last I heard, Schleswig-Holstein are trying the same thing but only time will tell if their attempts are successful or not. Either way, it's highly doubtful that Windows will have less than 80-90% of the market share.

there is a reason why apple with it's own cpu/os combo cannot beat microsoft.
amd/nvidia dgpu support together with directx are important for home pc use while security is paramount for commercial use.

apple's OS/CPU don't have directx support so many anti-cheat systems don't work and security is still a huge question mark.
harmony os has issues on both fronts. i'd wager that apple would beat microsoft's dominance decades before harmony os can even come close

Is it linux or bsd or did they just fork android?

None of the above, they wrote their own microkernel and frameworks, even a new programming language:

Nobody in China trusts Microsoft.  First HarmonyOS for PC will kick Windows out of the Chinese market.  Then it will spill over to countries geopolitically aligned with China.  And after that it will spill out to the rest of the world.  Microsoft's days are numbered!

Lol. No one is going to trust a Chinese OS. Microsoft isn't concerned.

Huawei has launched HarmonyOS NEXT, its latest self-developed operating system, featuring a fresh design and numerous new features. Significantly, it marks a clear departure from Android, establishing itself as a fully independent operating system within Huawei's ecosystem.
