Honestly studio's the world over seem to get this WRONG all the time.

In just about EVERY/ANY "Universe" the protagonist is most surely a white, male human.

Some studios TRY to "mix it up" a bit by having other genders or races however they never seem to get the 'right' alignment.

Would it be to HARD to have a story/game set in Japan have a NATIVE protagonist?

(ditto for ANYWHERE else in the World?)

DEI is DIE, just that it's placed differently so when Ubisoft goes away due to incompetent wokeism gamers the world over will be overjoyed.

Yasuke might be a historical figure, but putting an African protagonist in the first AC title set in East Asia doesnt make sense.  It's insulting to the Asian gamer base, which is the largest in the world, as many from East Asia have made very clear.  From a business standpoint, antagonizing your largest market is dumb and it shows that Ubisoft has its head down the western DEI hole while completely ignoring the perspective of groups not coddled by western DEI initiatives.

They should because most people don't want it. You're the minority. Stop trying to push your DEI agenda and disrespecting Japanese culture.

At this point, they couldn't even if they wanted to. It would take likely another year to create a new character, create the scenes, redo all the animations and models, find a VA, and have every line rewritten and recorded.

Quote from: Superguy on October 01, 2024, 16:50:08Ubi not wanting to release a buggy and half-baked game?  That's a first.

They have lost a lot of money with their "Epic Game Store Exclusive" release lineup + people getting tired of them not releasing something properly since some years ago.

The NFT ideas they had also bit them back, so who knows if they can recover at all. From what I can see around  me, no one cares about AC anymore like they did a decade ago. They should have ended it at Black Flag or the one that took place during the American Revolution. Same thing happened to Far Cry. Far Cry 4 was the last one that made a big splash. Rayman has been sleeping since Wii U & the UbiArt Framework got shafted.

Originally slated to release on November 12, Ubisoft delayed Assassin's Creed Shadows to mid-February 2025. According to information that has emerged online, the AC Shadows delay is mainly to address bugs and improve historical/cultural accuracy.
