I like everything about this laptop. The AMD processor is far superior to the LunarLake ones that just came out and the screen is a hit, as is the battery, but what about the price????
Normally AMD ultrabooks are cheaper than Intel ones, but I don't plan on paying more than $1,500 for any ultrabook that has an iGPU, no matter what it's made from. I have the Minisforum V3 in mind, but I'm waiting for it to be updated with AMD and, if possible, with LPCAMM2 memory that can be interchanged by the user.

I cannot accept the cursor keys in the keyboard block. All professional laptops have protruding arrows, and here HP goes cheap. At least it's good that they stopped installing FHD matrices in AMD notebooks.

They have better single and multi-core performance than the Intel Lunar Lake (in Geekbench and Cinebench R23). They are also more power efficient. But the naming is just ridiculous.... for example, we would soon expect the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Pro...

Comparing apples-to-apples, I'll bet Lunar Lake beats AMD AI 360 it's direct competitor in most benchmarks and uses less power. Strix only really shines at low power and efficiency is not that great in the 35W+ class. The higher end Strix only dominate by having more cores and threads. Arrow Lake will remove that restriction of Lunar Lake, but Panther Lake will have options with up to 12/14 cores compared to Lunar Lake's 8 and I doubt Strix will have a chance at all.

That thing isn't aimed at power users, it's aimed at people who want buzzwords. Such a terrible looking keyboard layout and trackpad. And torx screws, seriously? I have a 10 year old elitebook, half of it is servicable with 0 screws. The screws it does have, they can be unscrewed without the screws falling out. Let me guess, all of its components are soldered too?

Pure trash and how low elitebooks have fallen

We had the opportunity to spend some time with the new HP EliteBook X G1a, which was introduced at HP Imagine 2024. The new commercial laptop targets power users like analysts or programmers, who do not necessarily need a lot of GPU performance, but depend on a strong CPU.
