QuoteIn addition, it seems that some small, yet potentially important, components such as the LiDAR scanner for the 15 Pro Max' rear cameras are still resistant to calibration, as is the Flood Illuminator essential for Face ID, as also reported by electronics repair group iPad Rehab.
I'd never let garage shop do anything with FaceID components, it's outright dangerous. It's an infrared laser that has the potential to damage your eyes. iPhone even has a separate chip to monitor its voltages and cut it off if voltages go avry and laser starts burning those dots into your retina while you won't even be able to tell because it's infrared. And repair shops just remove that protection and solder a wire to the contacts so laser is "always allowed".
