You cannot compare the igpu's given to console makers to the ones in the consumer pc market. They're completely different beasts. In fact, even though they're igpus, because of the way they're built they're much more analogous to a dGPU in the PC space just with an ultra low power mobile U series CPU attached to them.

No, it won't. It's closer to 6800 / 7700.
And despite the higher pricing, keep in mind building an equivalent complete PC system (without going used & comes with decent warranty) that includes something like an 8 core 16 threaded 4.0+ GHz CPU with 16 GB VRAM 6800 / 7700 tier gpu + fast PCIe 4.0 NVMe 2 TB SSD .. will easily cost over double or more. So more like 1600+ minimum. That's just the sad current reality we live in whether you choose to game on PC or consoles, these are the prices we deal with.
Quote from: TruthIsThere on September 10, 2024, 18:25:51at ~45% lift, if a user is getting ~22 up to 30fps in a title, that is only ~31.9 up to ~43.5fps!!!
Don't own a ps5 (or any consoles) but from what I understand many games in performance mode (if they're well optimized that is) on base ps5 are already doing around 40-45 FPS.
Doing 1.45 x 40-45 fps is around 58-65 fps. You're right tho, not all games may scale that well, depends on game engine. So some maybe not completely reach stable 60 but it seems close enough to call it a 60 fps console now I guess.
Frankly, I do not think throwing more hardware at the problem is the way to go. Just look at people with RTX 4090s still dealing with traversal and shader stutter on a daily basis. Look at what game studios have been able to pull off on the switch when good optimization is done.
I still won't be getting any consoles but to laugh at this while completely ignoring the trainwreck that the pc space has become seems a little disingenuous.
