Microsoft shuttered almost all of its stores two years ago. Several other companies have tried this and in general, it doesn't really work well unless you can get a store into an area that matches the target market for the product.

Apple is an exception because they market lifestyle over utility, giving them more in common with fashion clothing stores or stores like Fossil than with tech stores like Best Buy.
