The Settings vs Control Panel dispute reminds me of the Windows 8 vs Windows 7 comparisons. New never guarantees better, the Control Panel is intuitive and slick, straightforward, clearly superior. I and normie relatives were never confused with its interface, Settings on the other hand scratches even the heads of top technicians I know.

What are they thinking!? At least update Settings to be actually functional Microsoft! God I'm going to have to go back to experimenting with Linux at this rate.

Third party apps that uses control panel will be updated, like the Realtek audio settings that already changed this

No! Its the one consistent place for settings going back decades and there still isn't an adequate substitute for everything in the app.  Not to mention there are a lot of third party apps that build their own settings into conrol panel.  So all those programs will be dead and gone at the same time I suppose.

They don't even know how to transfer functionality of add/remove programs into newer "modern ui", how they supposed to get rid of it?

9 years since Windows 10 was out introducing the "modern" look, upto windows 11, yet they still don't know how to replace the add/remove programs properly.

Look at android has evolved since 2015, the old lolipop 5.0 with first, ugly material design to sleek and elegant material you. That's just the surface. Underhood changes in android are way way more. Windows? Not so much.

Exactly! Some settings are exclusive to the control panel. Shouldn't get rid of it until those have been moved to Windows Settings. MSFT is really screwing up Windows

Because sometimes only this old control panel has the necessary settings.
So that's correct, until all the functionality is transferred to the new menu, there's no point in cutting this out.

Although Paint 3D will soon be dead and gone, it looks like the ancient Windows Control Panel will gain "walking dead" status. After over a decade of rumors and official statements regarding the deprecation of the Control Panel, now it seems that Microsoft is not going to take it out of the picture for good too soon.
