but hinge design is not the same as nitro v 16
but I'd get an Acer Nitro 16 with Ryzen 7 7735HS and RTX 4070 for as close to $1,000 as possible

so what is your next suggestion as best price-point laptop?! i would love to know...
Acer does not actually mention 2x M.2 slots in the official specs. Before publishing, I searched for online reviews to see the exact number of M.2 slots, but nothing clear so I left it as a downside. I searched again now and found the Laptopmedia review that mentions 2x slots and shows proof with a picture. Downside removed.

As for suggestions, try to look for good deals on RTX 4070 laptops. Deals come and go so need to watch for them all the time, but I'd get an Acer Nitro 16 with Ryzen 7 7735HS and RTX 4070 for as close to $1,000 as possible.

Also included are 16 GB DDR5-5600 RAM and 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage. Surprisingly for this price point, there are no major compromises on the display and port sides, as the configuration features a 16-inch FHD+ screen with 165 Hz refresh rate and 100% sRGB color gamut plus a USB4 port.
