Damn it took that many words to say the Cybertruck was *more* efficient per kwh? You fucking dunce

Quote from: RS on July 18, 2024, 23:57:46I'm sitting in a campground in Georgia. The camper next door was pulled by a 23 Ford Lightning with ext range battery. Camper is small, maybe loaded 6000# at the most. The owner reported no more than 90 miles between charges. Charges took about an hour each time to reach 80%. He and his family don't want to ever tow with it again.

One of the biggest issues with the Lightning is that Ford limited it to 150kw charging, making it the slowest charging electric truck. It is like they wanted it to fail

That said, I think it is still a bit too early for fully electric light trucks other than local delivery vehicles. For light trucks, I think the 2025 Ramcharger plugin hybrid is the best option. As long as Ram doesn't do something stupid

I'm open to the EV platform, it's a good idea however the battery and infrastructure development is way behind at this point. Currently, I wouldn't use any EV truck to tow anything other than myself, the technology just isn't there. With that said, you proved in your article  that the tesla is more efficient, but due to the battery size is limited in range. This makes the entire premise of the article untrue. Yes, the Chevy can tow further because it has a huge battery. No, it's not more efficient than the tesla. It's okay to not like Musk, but be honest in your reporting. I'm a Dodge guy if it matters, but have no problem with Tesla or Chevy.

Been well documented that EVs not good for towing long distances. (Gas is in efficient too btw) Battery Capacity is still too low and charging infrastructure way behind.

Hell evs aren't great at anything over 300 miles. They are for day to day use and accell incredibly at that.

If you want to tow something heavy, never buy an EV. Regardless of brand. Period.

It's like comparing a big pile of s*** with another big pile of s***, with sprinkles

Nice range but that's one ugly looking vehicle I wouldn't drive one if you gave it to me

I'm not a Tesla fan, but this is a brutal comparison. Stupid if I'm being blunt.

Which Cybertruck was used? There's a big difference between all three versions. If the cheapest one was used, then that explains a lot. If the most expensive one was used, then I doubt the results.

I'm anything but a Tesla fan. However, upon more than a cursory glance, this looks to be a garbage clickbait article, with lots of apples to oranges tyoe of 'comparisons' evident. Disappointing and lazy at best.

I will keep my Ford Excursion and my Ford F250,, both are 20 years old and have the 6.0 Diesel motors in them. The Excursion gets 18-28 mpg and the F250 gets 16-28 on the highway. The Excursion has a 44 gallon fuel tank and the F250 a 37 gallon tank. I will not trade either one of them for any of the limited ev vehicles out there.

Listen... you hate Elon but you love the environment. The Cybertruck is an electric truck. Literally the downside to any electric vehicle is low range when compared to nearly every gas combustion car. Everyone knows this. What you're saying isn't shocking or controversial. You're only trying to damage Tesla's reputation which at best won't work or at worst will prevent people from adopting early technology which will help save the planet.

I wish there was a way to block any article written by this person. Worst review ever. As a scientist you can only compare under the same conditions. This guy just needs content so he wrote about absolutely nothing. I wish I could sue for my time back. lol
