Quote from: Calan on July 12, 2024, 17:12:53Anyone thinking switch 2 will be in 4k isn't too bright. It'll be massively underpowered and games will still run at low fps. All the Nintendo Fanboys will eat it up there and praise it like it's a modern marvel. Out of all the fanboys for games Nintendo has got the dumbest fans. They love their gimmicky stuff with pastel colors, low resolution, and crappy fps. Oh can't forget small size games that are still on cartridge. Ya Nintendo fanboys are some 🤡's
The most optimistic analysis right now is mobile 2050 level of performance with or without AI upscaling and unknown power consumption.

Nintendo should just strike a deal with apple and source those M3 chips, maybe some custom version of it with more gpu cores and less cpu cores.
You are an Apple sheep if you think that Apple could deliver a soc with better performance per watt and per $ than Nvidia.
RTX 2050 mobile has around 5 Tflops FP32 which is indeed what is expected for Switch 2 in docked mode, which is even more powerfull than xbox series s. For refference Apple M4 has around 4 Tflops at 20w TDP, you can't compare with Max variants, M3 Max has a TDP of 78w, can't use something like that in a handheld even in docked mode, and even if you could, a chip like that will triple the price of the console :))

Geek glasses, number talks, and specs aside, it boils down to Nintendo still knows how to make great games. This argument has been going on since the bit wars and Nintendo is still in the top three.

The article didn't say it would be 4K, just that it could use a combination of upscaling and dlss to give a 4K picture, big difference.

Honestly wish Nintendo would just give me a 4K 60fps Zelda and Mario.... I've been waiting for this forever. I play my Switch docked on my 4k monitor (usually my gaming pc) and even the latest Zelda game needs more detail. It's an incredible game obviously just really want to see more from Nintendo. Or just make some PC ports with 4k upscale even Sony is jumping to PC ports today.

Me rambling on and on lol. Just hope that the Switch 2 will be a jump to at least a PS4.

Honestly miss my N64 and would love a Nintendo home console still today.

Quote from: NobodynoHow on July 10, 2024, 00:52:43Considering we already have public customs shipping manifests for the switch 2, which contains fans, and that there is no such thing as any AMD 5nm APU anywhere....

You might want to actually do some vetting or something before putting blatant misinformation from complete and absolute hacks on a megaphone.

It doesn't say the console won't use a fan, it's just that the fan would be moved to the dock instead. Unless the shipping manifests specifically mentioned a fan for the tablet, this could very well be true.

Also, where did you get AMD 5nm from here?

Hysterical, as the OG Switch (before it was released) was rumored to run better docked than in handheld.  It was thought that the dock would have additional processors including a GPU to accomplish this.  Then we got the Switch.  A slightly better tablet and a dock to connect power and an HDMI only.  Let's see if Nintendo delivers what was expected YEARS AGO.

As the launch of the next-generation Nintendo Switch draws near, a leaker has commented on the power dissipation of the new Nvidia Tegra T239 ARM chip, which apparently depends heavily on whether the console is used in handheld mode or in the dock.
