how long must we wait for this laptop? it's been 3 months since the ces announcement and now we're told the 4k display is coming 'late summer'? by that point there'll be other tb5 laptops and we might as well wait it out until 2025 for new cpu/gpu's...

What is the benefit of replacing the terrible unreliable copper with optics? People who require powerful 3D/computing (which is noisy) will be able to move this equipment from the desktop to the utility room up to 50m away without a problem, unlike copper wires.

It will be possible, if you have a 1Tbit/s optical link (and even 500Gbit/s), to simply put the computer in a utility room or another room in order to generally work and play in 100% silence. Having on the table only a hub for connecting peripheral devices - mice/keyboards/monitors/sound cards/external drives and other equipment.

An era is coming when there is no need to keep a PC on your desktop. Complete silence is needed.

The funny thing is that Zen4 has 28 pci-e 5.0 lanes, of which 20 are available. Each line 5.0 x1 = TB4. Or 5.0 x2 = TB5.

TB5 is a game changer.  Price is ouch territory but they are the first and only ones to utilize TB5 along with pretty serious screen tech.  Review will expose more of the details (fan noise for example).  At this price I doubt you'd want to leap before a full review.

Primarily interested in this because of the 18" 1000nits qhd display and its compact size but i'll wait for a review to see if they managed to improve battery life to be comparable to the rog scar 18 (which has a similar display). Honestly i'd prefer a laptop with this display with an amd ryzen 8940h...
