Actually, the problem with this whole check is that not children, but adults will be forced to de-anonymize at the legal level in order to prove that you are over 14+(16, 18, 21+) years old. Beyond the legal level, intelligence agencies already know everything about extrajudicial methods of controlling the Internet.

There is only one way to deal with this - don't visit social networks like me. But if the social hamsters really want to, even the consequences of legal de-anonymization will not stop them.

You people are tightening the noose around your own neck, allowing you to build new levels of control.

As for children, I strongly support their isolation from social networks. They have nothing to do there.

I'm glad Ron Densatis knows better than the parents. He should make sure to let all parents know how to raise our kids. Until he came along We didnt know what we're doing for the last 5000 years.

"Children" aged 12-14 years old can easily bypass all these restrictions.
Freedom of speech will suffer if censorship is imposed on adults (who have legal capacity).

It is good for children if they are separated from social networks. Only benefit.

The "Democrats"/leftists are now behaving like real fascists in the USA, so whose cow is mooing...

Why is Notebookcheck promoting the policies of a facist, racist, bigoted, Trumpian wanna-be dictator when they should be calling out the serious problems this legislation poses to free speech in the state of Florida? I don't read Notebookcheck for tone-deaf takes on politics, I come here  for in-depth hardware reviews but I'm seriously reconsidering visiting this site again. This isn't the first time you've posted an article with questionable content and an author that either doesn't understand the context of what they're talking about or is promoting a problematic view point. It also seems to be a repeating pattern that the editors either don't care about or actively encourage and I'm not sure which one is worse. Everyone at Notebookcheck needs to do better, if that's not possible then you need to stay in your lane and cover topics that drew readers to your site in the first place or you will lose them.

Wow. This article took specific text from the governors office and changed it up a little. As if it was generated by AI from very specific sources or written by the same persons'.
Anyways, this includes a requirement for age verification for porn sites and "anonymity protections".
Likely to be struck down like other laws by Ron Desanctimonius.

Is this a PR article? Surely feels like one.

And while I agree children don't belong to social media, I'm afraid this ban is just virtue signaling that's impossible to enforce.

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well. Of course, the author is free to maintain the opinion that bans are the way to go, but this actually reads like a Ron DeSantis advertisement.

Let's be honest, I doubt he have done such law to protect kids, I bet this is about the opposite, to leave lgbt kids unprotected against abusive parents, others recent laws from him have made it harder for them to denounce such abuse after all

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has passed a bill banning minors under 14 years old from holding social media accounts. This law protects young children from being exposed to dangerous online predators, inappropriate content, and cyberbullying until they have matured enough to handle more adult communications and content.
