Hmm, are you perhaps conflating QD-OLED with QLED? They do sound similar. Thankfully, QD-OLED (this monitor's label) seems to be an honest term.

QLED, which you may be referring to, would indeed fall into the bucket of misattributed LED-backlit LCD tech. While perhaps quite respectable in quality potential, it does subtly mischaracterize itself by adopting its backlight technology as its exclusive nominative stem. It should be called QLCD!

I do also agree with the need for more monitors with higher resolutions than 4K. So many docks tout 8K support, yet the only practical 8K monitor is still the Dell Ultrasharp model which has hardly dropped a dime since it was released five years ago.

Huh? QD-OLED is not LCD based please don't spread that misinformation.

The abbreviation stands for Quantum Dot Organic Light Emitting Display.

Another high-profile scam from Samsung+Gigabyte.
QD-OLED is not an analogue of AMOLED, it is a variant of miniLED with LCD tech.

Support for True Black HDR 400 is completely fake (max 0.0005 nits for EACH pixel on screen, not for zones!). Only AMOLED and microLED panels support this standard and higher.

It seems that there is finally a monitor with DP2.0+ with UHBR20, but again, alas, it's only outdated 4k, not 8k. We work and surf in perfectly clear 8k (270ppi+ at 32"), play in 4k (240Hz - by the way, find games and video cards capable of this) - fhd (480Hz).

Gigabyte has now fully detailed the AORUS FO32U2P, one of several OLED gaming monitors revealed last month during CES 2024. The Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2P comes with numerous ports, including a pair of DisplayPort 2.1 connections that support the high-bandwidth UHBR 20 standard.
