Chances of 30MP for the R1 are between didley and squat. Imagine the flagship not even being able to offer 8K video. The R3 is the low MP flagship, not the R1. A9III is not competing even against the A1, so why would Canon consider it a competitor. Canon needs to worry about the A1 mk II and hell by the time the R1 ships Nikon will probably be getting ready to announce the Z9 II which is already over 2 years old
Canon looks to be launching two cameras in 2024, with launch windows towards the end of the year. The EOS R5 Mark II will be an updated high-megapixel camera with 8K video chops, while the EOS R1 is stacking up to be staunch competition for the Sony A9 III.
