Waste of 2.6 billion, CCS is a scam

Quote from: Neenyah on February 05, 2024, 22:39:28European industry, lol. It is already the indisputable #1 worldwide in how clean it is and not just clean but also small. Then you look China, India, Brazil and how little fks they give for ecology so you have to ask what's the point of this at all? The whole EU(rope) is probably polluting in 100 years combined (with current standards) less than China in 6 months, so...

Europe has done quite a bit on reducing emissions, but I wouldn't go that far. Europe has emitted far more than China has during the last 100 years.

In 2022, Europe emitted 5.11 bt, China has emitted 11.40 bt. So Europe's CO2 emissions of 1 year is about 6 month of China, not 100 years

That said, China is currently probably doing the most in terms of emissions reduction as they are investing more than Europe. Of course not because they care but simply because it has become cheaper

That's just so stupid.  Where will plants get their CO2 to rebuild into sugars?

$2.6 billion is being invested in a Norwegian carbon capture and storage (CCS) project. The aim is to store the carbon dioxide emitted by European industry in a pristine reservoir of saline groundwater beneath the ocean floor. The European Union is backing the controversial experiment.
