Instead, NBC often adds garbage information about affiliate links to (un)related products and their prices. Instead of garbage, we want to be informed. Do not defend NBC's missing information about expected endconsumer prices in EUR but inform us better!

Funny. Sales tax in the US ranges from 0% to around 7%. Using a random sales tax rate in these articles would be more misleading than mentioning the usual pre-tax price, which is exactly what US readers are accustomed to.
Also, tipping in restaurants does not have anything to do with taxes.
