Of course, they are a for profit company, not a charity. Not to mention companies need to pay for R&D and keep money on hand which will be needed as competition heats up. Of course they also probably have more flexibility with the new upgraded lines that bring down costs coming next year
Quote from: John Aiken on December 27, 2023, 17:56:02Holy cow can electric car companies do no wrong. Where does all the raw materials for batteries come from. Where do they go when they are depleted. It still takes raw materials to make these cars. Plus in cold conditions they get half the energy. How is that helping. You see Elon as helping the environment but killing bird populations at SpaceX. Make up your mind. Yes we need to do something about the environment but jumping on the first thing out there is just ignorant. You are just wanting to win this battle at any cost. Shameful
What do you mean no wrong?
You never cared about where the RAW materials for gas cars come from, why do you care now? And with gas cars, you BURN some of that material
In comparison, EV batteries are recycled. See Tesla's impact report where they show every year how much materials they recycled from batteries
EVs are only much more environmentally friendly vs gas cars, that is all. More environmentally friendly would be public transport or ebike or bicycle, and even more would be walking. It is all relative
SpaceX is not Tesla. And do note that humanity eventually leaving earth for space would probably be the most environmental thing that can ever be done for earth. The sooner the better, but obviously it won't be this century so we have to make best of what we have without destroying it
Blindly hating on things without doing your own research is what is ignorant and shameful
