We bought two Samsung flips on the day of release and I just gave my daughter mind 2 years before she normally gets my used phone. I bought a Motorola razr Plus and love it. The hardware on the Motorola seems a little bit behind the hardware on the Samsung, but the software functionality and UX is light years ahead of Samsung. Samsung offers about four programs that you can run on the cover screen. Motorola allows you to try anything on the cover screen. Apps follow you from one screen to the other. It's just a way better experience. Samsung continues to underwhelm me with their software. I have four smart homes and the TVs can't stay connected to the SmartThings hubs so you can't turn them on and off by voice. Look at the reviews for the frame. They can't do software. The smart things watch tracks my oxygen during the night but the UX is so bad I can't see when it spikes to compare it with some other metrics that I gather.
Motorola may be pushing Samsung to improve its clamshell foldable offering. Unfortunately, software support for the Razr+ and Razr 40 Ultra pales in comparison to the Galaxy Z Flip5, with some Razr units remaining stuck on their launch software thanks to unexplained issues.
