This device is useless. You can get a better experience with your smartphone and a DualSense controller with a phone clip. You already have the smartphone and DualSense, and a phone clip is $20 or less on Amazon. But if you want to flush money down the toilet, feel free.

Funny, that's all it does! It doesn't natively play games, so that's all it needs the power to do.

I was fortunate enough to get one early on and I love it. Many of my games don't cross save progression across devices, so I'm glad to,say, keep playing DBD with my current characters and add-ons.

I'm kinda tired of people criticizing the portal for not being what they wanted it to be. Sony said what this is going to be and was transparent and it is delivering what it said it's going to do. Why does it need a powerful processor if it's only job in life is to stream and support wifi and earbud connection? I agree with Sony, make a streaming device versus creating a whole new portable console requiring support from devs to make successful. PS5 have support and many games so why not leverage that. All journalists think they have the answers but don't realize the scope and cost it takes to develop an economy. Also I'm tired of people saying that it's sucks cause it came stream Netflix, Hulu etc. I have a million devices that can do that , so I don't need another one.

Err.. no. Snapdragon 662 was in Moto Stylus 2020, announced on February 07 2020. and even back then it wasn't a "midrange offering" anyways... I'm at a loss for why you think a strong device which has zero intention to be a stand-alone device is supposed to have a stronger processor which would make it....what? It's a streaming device. A stronger processor would 1. Make the cost go up. 2. Make it run hotter. 3. Provide absolutely positively zero benefit. For sure we can all be thankful that they didn't make such an inexplicably pointless mistake as installing a stronger processor on a streaming peripheral. So with respect...please help me understand why you think they should have opted for one, and name one single benefit to having it. I've given you the benefits of what they chose. What is a single benefit of a stronger processor on a peripheral that isn't designed to run games outside of a simple stream?

If Apple do same most critics wowing and calling that as innovation, even if they use 3y old hardware people will to overpay by thousands

For something that's 'outdated' it looks and plays beautifully. It's brought a whole new dimension to how I play my PS5, I'm definitely playing more and I'm actually starting to get through some of my backlog now.

For 200 dollars you are getting a well made screen, a MSRP $70 dollar controller and a decently powered device.  I honestly don't know what you would expecting.  It seemingly performs well and with solid battery life with it's biggest hangup being the interface with regards to authenticating to public wifi....something that CAN be addressed with a patch.

IMO....it's a fairly priced device.

Do competitors care enough to pay for a bot/influencer campaign to diss Portal? I see that it's selling out, but that's probably because it's new.

For such a simple device (it is nothing more than a glorified controller), the issue should have never been a thing. Instead I'm waiting since two weeks for replacement, with the risk that the new unit has the same problem, if it's a "bad batch" thing or a production problem then needs to be sorted out.
