QuoteBMW will now also take Tesla's automated driving software to task

Quotethe feature will only be operable at up to 60 km/h (37 mph)

Quotethe limitations of Personal Pilot L3 restrict its use to "structurally separated carriageways," and permissive visual conditions. If conditions aren't met, drivers receive both a visual and auditory warning that the service cannot be activated.

Something tells me Elon isn't sweating this.

To be fair, BMW's Level 2 package — same level as FSD Beta — works at up to 130 km/h, so there's that. Level 2 for highways, Level 3 for slower roads.

FSD is also limited (also requires good visibility and lighting), which is why it's called "Autosteer on City Streets" in other markets.

BMW is launching what it calls "highly automated driving" features in Germany. While Germany gets the SAE Level 3 Personal Pilot L3 system, the current Highway Assistant suite is limited to Level 2 in the US and Canada. BMW's Level 3 system will cost €6,000 (around US$ 6,800), and it is fully functional at night.
