The upcoming lenovo legion go handheld might be for you, it's "rumored" to use detachable controls (like a nintendo switch) and since it's x86 it's a fully fledged PC. You get basically an 8'' tablet running windows with optional dedicated gaming controls. When SteamOS finally gets a general release you can use that to streamline background services - because linux - and have the perfect handheld

I wish we could just get this as a tablet straight up. Aya & others in the handheld game right now are doing more innovation than Samsung, Google, Xiaomi, Vivo, One Plus, etc in the tablet game.
