I'd rather a 5x optical zoom than a 5x pixel count increase. Or even 4x optical with say 16MP. Still 50MP effectively makes your 3x optical zoom a 3x x sqrt(50/10) = 6.7x optical zoom vs 10MP when you are focal length limited.

Prolific leaker Ice Universe says the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will come with a 50 MP 3x telephoto sensor, improving upon the 10 MP sensor featured on the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
