Of the few negatives mentioned, only one has any real validity:
Inefficient display-to-surface ratio - You mena Sony isn't playing the pointless marketing game of compromising the phone in order to have no bezels at the top and bottom? This is a plus not a minus.
The unsatisfactory selfie quality - You mean those tiny photos people post on social media? Who really cares?
The slow charging - Sony has a long history of protecting battery life and this is one of the best ways to do it.
Limited to single-band GNSS - And does that affect GPS performance or just conserve battery?
Low update support period - This the only genuine negative and it would be great if Sony would extend it. They do far easier (even support) the use of 3rd party ROMs on their devices than most other manufacturers which is a small mitigation to this.
I like that Sony does not cover the front camera under the display making it look ugly and wasting display space. Also with smaller space you get shity speaker performance.
The Xperia 1 V is probably the perfect companion for photographers and those who aspire to be. With powerful accessories and extensive camera software as well as Sony Alpha connectivity, the Xperia smartphone has no alternative. But there are also some weak areas in everyday operation.
