While there has been a downgrade in the range, it's not because Tesla wants to show a more accurate range to customer.. your article has quite a few errors. The lower range is due to a change in the battery chemistry. Also your comparison is also incorrect.. it doesn't seem like you know much about these cars.. why write an uneducated, incorrect piece in the first place?

The real world range has not really decreased. This new model 3 uses LFP batteries that are best charged to 100%, whereas the previous model 3 had batteries where it was advised to only charge to 80% except for long trip. So to compare range, you should decrease the previous range by 80%.

Please remove your Article is entirely wrong, and your opinion is baseless. At least explain the facts and what Elon said about massive miles when most people do not travel far. Do the Tesla Charging station network the mileage based on proximity jobs within 50 miles, give or take? Three hundred miles and below is sufficient for any EV.

Quote from: Matthew Arnold on May 29, 2023, 17:41:44You comparison is incorrect, you have the 7 seat config listed for the Model Y which would put your base price at a min of 53k+ for the long range.

Tesla's vehicle comparison tool doesn't give you the option of specific seating configurations to compare. It just lists "Seating up to." All Model Y vehicles are eligible for the new tax incentives, and that's the important comparison to draw.

Your article is a nothing burger. The headlines are dramatic and misleading.

To call 33 miles a significant downgrade is laughable. You charge your car daily so unless you're going somewhere that you really need that extra 33 miles of range to get there then it pretty much means nothing. Doubt there are many people that will be a point of concern.

After pulling the Long Range Model 3 AWD from the US market late last year and re-introducing it again a few weeks ago, Tesla has updated the LR Model 3 AWD's range estimates to more accurately represent what consumers can expect. The new range figures are a significant downgrade compared to the previous version, for which Tesla stopped taking orders due to excessive backlog.
