I see. I think I may have misspoken on the relevance of the temporal dithering video specifically.

What I mean is that the static matrix photo needs to correctly represent the horizontal and vertical axes in order to characterize the panel accurately, and the disparity between it and the video indicates that one of the two must be wrong.

Most AMOLED phones have the dots running at 45 degrees to the display edges, which corresponds to an incomplete PenTile RG/BG matrix. This is what the video shows. But the static matrix photo shows them running at 90 degrees instead, which suggests that they may actually be arranged in a full-matrix pattern with four dots (RGGB) per pixel. If true, this would make for a higher-detail panel that doesn't exhibit a "de-resolution" effect in heavy red and blue shades. But if not, then the photo is misleading.

What you say about the slippery screen on the microscope makes sense. I'll concede that it probably doesn't matter in the video how the device is rotated, as long as we can trust the photo. The photo orientation really should be correct if at all reasonably possible.

Moved from USB 3 to USB 2? Did they forget some people use external displays through USB-C as a desktop replacement?

Also with no SD slot, people are increasingly using USB C thumb drives to store photos and such, which now works much slower.

Seems like a huge downgrade to save $1.

That's a bit of an odd one. Normally, if one shines light at the ambient light sensor, it should automatically increase the brightness if set to Auto mode. Didn't happen here unfortunately. Not sure if that's a fault with the unit or software or both. But the rated typical brightness is only 500 nits.

FYI - PUBG Mobile does support 90fps when using the "smooth" graphics option. The 90fps does not appear otherwise.
