The EPA just unveiled the most stringent emission standards in history that it says will save owners US$12,000 over the lifetime of a light-duty vehicle in fuel and maintenance costs. The mandates also include an 8-year, 80,000-miles electric car warranty.
EV batteries generally have 8 year/100k+ miles warranty so not sure the point of this. At least match CA who mandates 10 years

And since everyone now will be using less gas and saving money to the tune of ~$12,000/year -  all to save the planet which seems to be on the brink of destruction every 7 years according to tweens and young adults on social media, I'm so happy the oil industry and your local gas station won't raise gas prices opting instead to take major hit to their profit margins.

And major shout out to local city, county, and state goverments that rely on gas taxes for generating additional revenue to fund pet projects, special interests, and grifting will undoubtably adopt more fiscally responsible budgets so as to not add to the financial burden of their citizenry now that they will be taking in less tax revenue due to lower consumption of a taxable commodity.

Adoption of EVs would actually lower cost of cars as in the long run EVs should be cheaper to manufacture than ICE cars

The mandate is for light vehicles, not trucks so it has no impact on transport of goods cost.

Many states already have annual fees on EVs to cover road taxes.

"12,000 in gas savings" <-- Try increasing production to lower the cost of fuel.  $2.00/gal would save much more than this than $4.50/gallon.
