Meh! I got stiffed by Dell last time I bought a laptop from them as they refused to refund the difference when the dropped the price a few days later. Their so-called price guarantee is a flat out lie. Last week one of the hinges broke (its a 2in1) and they told me the £250 premium service warranty that I'd purchased 'didn't cover any hardware issues'! Now they want £320 to fix it. I've had 3 XPS' in a row but there's no way I'll buy anything from Dell ever again. Haphazard build quality and terrible customer service. Seeing as the 9500 range is unchanged after 3 years, I'm not exactly missing anything anyway. My cash goes to Lenovo, Asus and Apple these days.
No 120Hz no FHD Webcam is a joke at this price level...
XPS always was pricier but at least used to be special and had less competition some years ago. Now they completely lost it asking a ridiculous price when there is so many more really good or even better alternatives.
The 8GB 4070 also will have no / minimal advantage over a 8Gb 4060 at 40W which is a joke too but also proves that the 4070 is more of a 4060Ti that Nvidia just uses for milking...
I hope they have finally fixed the basics. My 2y old XPS 15 9500 still doesn't support sleep (s3 state) and either heats up and drains battery in the bag or has to be in hibernation/shutdown. Also randomly loses power (restarts) even when plugged in and with full battery.
Dell has refreshed its XPS 15 offering this year with the new XPS 15 9530. The XPS 15 9530 continues to feature the same chassis that was first offered by the XPS 15 9500. The upgrades this year are mainly with respect to the Intel 13th gen processor options up to the Core i9-13900H and new Nvidia RTX 40 GPUs up to a 40 W RTX 4070. The Core i9 + RTX 4070 options will be available first followed by other SKUs later this Spring.
