How often and how fast the camera shuts down due to the overheating?

Unfortunately I have to agree with mrfroid.
Phones got bigger, pockets didn't.
That said, in my opinion Asus Zen 8 or rumoured S22 seem to be much closer than this one with only "true" recent compact being Iphone 13 mini.
Also from my experience, big length seems to more annoying than width so this Xperia is definitely not for me, but these are just my 2 cents. For other people it might be different

Now you call this compact even though it's 157 x 68 x 8.2 mm (6.18 x 2.68 x 0.32 in).
Yep, now. XZ1 Compact was released 4 years ago. Some time ago there was a category called phablet. All of the models in this category were similar sized as phones nowadays. Who calls phones today as phablets? Nobody. That is why calls somebody Sony Xperia 5 III phone as a compact one in 2021.

There was a compact phone called Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact and it was 129 x 65 x 9.3 mm (5.08 x 2.56 x 0.37 in).
It's non compact version was called Sony Xperia XZ1 and it measured 148 x 73.4 x 7.4 mm (5.83 x 2.89 x 0.29 in).
Now you call this compact even though it's 157 x 68 x 8.2 mm (6.18 x 2.68 x 0.32 in).

One thing is for sure only men with big pockets can call something this big compact as women would struggle to put even XZ1 compact into the front pocket of their jeans ;)

With its 120-Hz OLED display in the 21:9 format measuring only 6.1 inch, the Sony Xperia 5 III is a very compact and light Snapdragon 888 smartphone. Yet the Sony device still offers the same interesting camera system as the Xperia 1 III flagship.
