Next generations will remember this era, like dark times of europa, and US.
For last afew years, just because of US jelaosity on tech, they completly stopped accerelation of humanity. In simple sample; Lots of companies still does not have 5G, while atm, we should talk about how 6G/7G should be.
Nobody notice that, but nealy %70-80 of nano molacular, opto, chemi, physical advanced patents belongs to asian developers, but they are all in different countries.
We are living anothet dark age of humanity, and tyran is US now. Not engizition,.
I don't really believe the claim given by the Chinese startup saying their chip outperforms Nvidia and AMD by "three times". Very often Chinese companies boast their products and advancements to earn subsidies from CCP government. When they got the money, the board members would ditch the company right away. Meantime CCP is adopting AI to tighten comprehensive confinement over its own people, e.g. analyzing massive surveillance collected through billions of cameras set everywhere. On such aspect I support US ban on export GPU chips to China.
China no need crappy US chips. China can and have designed chips far superior to American counterparts. Huawei Kirin chips were among the best when they were still being made, topping even crappy Apple chips. All these bans actually blessing for China in disguise. Without them lazy companies in China will just keep on procuring inferior American chips... The path of least resistance always prevails. US not only helping China with these bans but the world to have far better tech coming from China in the near future!
The latest round of US sanctions clearly had the capability to protect US companies from Chinese competition, resulting in worse products and higher prices for everyone, the question is how and when the Chinese will reply.
Well, the Chinese, with their resources (albeit with monstrous debts already exceeding 330% of GDP, according to some sources), together with the Russians, can try to challenge the Western Alliance for the palm. Competition is always good, right? The only question is how bloody it is...
For a long time the totalitarian world vs. world rapidly going to totalitarian? Who will win whom? Who has a higher concentration, the ability to curb corruption and fools and the ability to provide creativity among a wide layer of people - scientists and engineers, giving them a favorable socio-economic environment. Who will you bet on, readers?
Although TSMC has allegedly halted production of chips for Chinese company Biren Technology to ensure compliance with US regulations, the decision also seems connected with the public information that the Biren BR100 GPGPU outperforms drastically the NVIDIA A100, being almost three times as fast in certain scenarios.
