I'm much more interested will this new model support AV1 codec than RAM. AV1 is used for example by Netflix (on supported devices)

Apple helped created AV1 (as part of Alliance for Open Media) so why their devices don't support it ?

Originally, Apple thought that RAM was a technical detail its customers need not be bothered with. Later, Apple boasted various other technical details for PR. However, its often tight RAM is better hidden so that customers do not become aware before purchase that later OS updates will be planned obsolesence due to filling too much RAM so slowing down use.

Both the new Apple iPad and Apple TV 4K have received several upgrades over their predecessors, not least with regards to their processors. However, the latest version of Xcode also confirms that Apple has quietly equipped both models with more RAM, which should boost performance too.
