Xiaomi had reportedly been in talks to sell its premium gaming smartphone brand, Black Shark, to Tencent since early 2022. However, the latest word is that the software giant has ultimately passed on buying the company. Black Shark is now apparently obliged to let as many as half of its employees go, and to abandon plans for a foray into virtual reality (VR) tech on top of that.
