Shouldn't the taxpayers who are the shareholders benefit from this tech? I never understood capitalism where the taxpayers hard cash of monies is involved and some whalers CEOs derive their wealth from it.

It's most likely a cost issue. How much would it be $/kwh. Current batteries are around $130-250/kwh depending on supply constraints. Plus they would also need to develop a mass manufacturing method before they can make manufacturing plants for them. Hopefully they'll be done in a few more years

Why aren't we using these solid state batteries for suits and tools?  Still using Li batteries for equipment that is in development.

NASA has achieved a breakthrough in its solid-state battery research aimed at electricity-powered transportation. NASA's solid-state battery stacks all of its cells in one casing, reducing weight and increasing the energy density twice compared to that of Li-ion batteries in the typical electric car.
