1 inch in cylinder format and 1 inch in diagnonal format are two different things. Xiaomi is still correct here either way, plus the sensor size is the largest of any popular phones out there.
Maybe Xiaomi should do the same as Sony and market it as "1 inch type" sensor which refers to the cylinder format sensor but the way you interpret the sensor is up to the reader.
It's not called "cylinder format", it's called "tube format", and the only proper way of referring to a sensor size in tube format is to use the quotation mark, not the English word, to designate "inch", with "Type", yes, capitalized, as a necessity! It was formerly Type-1", now just Type 1, but Xiaomi threw Type away while drawing a diagonal across their depiction of the sensor labeling it "1英寸"(Chinese!!) , which is fundamentally deceiving!
