They shouldn't do this on a company by company basis, it's very easy to acquire retail units of phones and frankly I believe they could assess the  top 50 models of the world by sales in a week, and then we'd have the whole picture.
Or at least they should be picking competing models from two companies using the same processor and releasing results in pairs, like the Find X and the S9(US/China version), which would be more informative than this.
