Quote from: Gumwars on July 08, 2022, 18:39:44How is this thing getting a 90%?  CB R23 at 10K for a 12900H??  CB R20 at 4K??  The CPU in this laptop is underperforming by nearly 50% but you guys see fit to show it as one of the best PC laptops to buy this year?

I thought this was weird. I have this model and my unit gets approx 15k in cinebench r23. Not that I think it's impressive, just more acceptable than the numbers NBC posted. I'm also getting a timespy graphics score of 13900 which is significantly above. Makes me wonder if they had the synapse set to medium or something. Very odd.

You make some interesting suggestions, which I would like to understand better.

Quote from: NikoB on July 07, 2022, 22:21:06introduce a formalized method for measuring viewing angles (measure the real four viewing angles when the contrast drops by 5 and 10 times).

Please describe your suggestion in greater detail and how it compares to what is currently measured!

QuoteAlder Lake outright loses to TigerLake-H in AIDA64 Ray Trace FP64 tests.

The sequential tests state Alder Lake values but do not compare to Tiger Lake. Please state their values so we can compare! The latency test seems to fail. How can we compare its values?

QuoteIn terms of tuning RAM, the manufacturer clearly made a mistake. The speed of pumping in memory is seriously below the norm.

Please explain!

QuoteIt's time, as with PL1 / PL2, to clearly indicate to the reviewers what the buyer will deal with in the case of an HDMI port,

The same goes for TB3 / TB4.0 / USB40 - you need to check whether there really is a working support for eGPU and other requirements.

Hear, hear!

Quotein the case of a usb-c port with DP Alt Mode support, it is necessary to clearly write how many lanes are involved for DP forwarding inside usb-c port - 2 or 4.

Please explain in detail why this is relevant, how manufacturers should state it clearly and what exactly NBC should state!

QuoteHow can a 17.3 laptop be sold without a full keyboard with a standard numeric keypad?

Indeed, and normal-sized numeric keys!

Quotefrom the point of view of ergonomics and eye strain - all manufacturers are simply obliged to install even in all office models 15.6"-17.3" 144Hz with a response time of less than 10ms.

While I appreciate your suggested values, I have not felt a need for them for office use. 60Hz at 20ms does it for me. Maybe your values are something I would only learn to appreciate when sometimes using such a display or maybe my perception simply cannot notice a difference.

QuoteNotebook power supply MUST be done either at the back or with a round corner connector at the very edge

Right.

Also, in the case of a usb-c port with DP Alt Mode support, it is necessary to clearly write how many lanes are involved for DP forwarding inside usb-c port - 2 or 4. This is also important for a buyer who connects monitors with high resolution and frame rate (or/+HDR).

Well, about the scanty non-working keyboard, it's probably not worth it. How can a 17.3 laptop be sold without a full keyboard with a standard numeric keypad? Who needs it and why without a normal full-fledged full keyboard that allows typing almost blindly when switching from a desktop keyboard? Already at 17.3"
there is plenty of room for a full-fledged keyboard.

ps, I emphasize once again - from the point of view of ergonomics and eye strain - all manufacturers are simply obliged to install even in all office models 15.6"-17.3" 144Hz with a response time of less than 10ms. This should have been the de facto standard for 5 years already. When you see how when scrolling text in a browser or in a Word, the text turns into a mess, you just get furious at the slow by response panels when you switch your eyes to a fast-responsive monitor. And certainly a SHAME for everyone if a "gaming" laptop has a slow panels with a response of more than 10ms! I am in favor of sending such "game" garbage immediately under the bulldozer!

And again, damn it! Producers! Stop dumbing down and make 2 audio outputs - left and right, so that it is convenient for both left-handed and right-handed people! Notebook power supply MUST be done either at the back or with a round corner connector at the very edge (it doesn't matter on the left or right). But in no case wild stupidity with a sticking out perpendicular to the case (ala debility usb-c power, although it can be made in the form of an angled plug, but so that it does not cover neighboring ports!) A plug on the left or right. Which is uncomfortable or right-handed (where his legs are on the couch) or left-handed.

I would fire those who are in charge of ergonomics during development. There are amateurs out there!

Well, here is the first 4k model that is normal in response and just at 17.3. Wonderful! But! The contrast is shameful for such a top panel, the minimum should be 1500:1. And gentlemen reviewers from this site - it's time for you to introduce a formalized method for measuring viewing angles (measure the real four viewing angles when the contrast drops by 5 and 10 times). Well, once again I draw the attention of the public to the fact that Alder Lake outright loses to TigerLake-H in AIDA64 Ray Trace FP64 tests. Demonstration of how the new Intel architecture is slower in floating point operations in the old unoptimized code. Almost 2.5 times! This is no good!

In terms of tuning RAM, the manufacturer clearly made a mistake. The speed of pumping in memory is seriously below the norm.

Well, once again I want to emphasize that all manufacturers are essentially deceiving buyers with an HDMI 2.1 port - in reality, no one tests it for full compliance with the full capabilities of 2.1, i.e. 48Gbps and more. The standardization committee itself admitted that rogue chip makers can put a 2.1 label on anything, in fact, without even having full support for 48Gb / s. It's time, as with PL1 / PL2, to clearly indicate to the reviewers what the buyer will deal with in the case of an HDMI port,

The same goes for TB3 / TB4.0 / USB40 - you need to check whether there really is a working support for eGPU and other requirements.

Highly not recommend to buy this junk. There are strong issues with advanced models razer ignoring since 2018.
The ribbon cable and related construction is poor. My 2021 advanced model was broken after 1 year of careful using. Official service center can do nothing for a 2 months. You can never repair this one-off laptop.

No numpad. Razer continues to limit its laptops to gaming.
That multicore value for the CPU is quite disappointing.

Good to see Razer cares about the screen,

A Core i9-12900H and GeForce RTX 3080 Ti provide sufficient performance for 4k gaming, video processing, and rendering. The matte 4k display (IPS, 144 Hz) scores with a good color reproduction and high brightness. Our test shows what else the new Blade 17 in the high-end configuration can do.
