Quote from: Scalpel on December 25, 2022, 20:20:07Hmm guys. Have you ever tried checking the specs for this CPU? Then you would not blame Lenovo for the lack of USB4. R7-6850u natively only supports 10gbps USB3.2... while the intel counterpart i7-1260p natively supports TB4 & USB4...
AMD specifications are complete nonsense and always have been, unlike Intel (although there are enough blatant lies there).

The 6800H also supposedly doesn't support USB40, but most laptops do, include Lenovo.

The entire U line has a built-in USB40 controller, as does the U/P Intel. This is pure hypocrisy on the part of Lenovo and its marketers. It's a shame that the mainstream T-business line doesn't have the TB4 aka USB40.

The article points to the announcement of Lenovo P16, which is completely different machine than the P16s discussed here. Please correct the article.

Quote from: NikoB on June 26, 2022, 23:46:47And then it turns out that 97-98% of the population is not even aware that TB4.0 is built into _each_ mobile processor starting with Tiger Lake series for Intel and USB40 in _each_ mobile AMD processor, starting with Zen3+. It is the illiteracy of the townsfolk that allows marketers to create everything that they want and breed fools for money...
If people actually cared about USB4, then they would know and wouldn't buy laptops without it if possible. Since they do, one can only conclude that they do not care, they don't have the need. Really, the primary benefit of USB4 over plain old USB 3.2 ports is that you get power + USB + DP over single cable, like TB (just without PCIe, that is optional and it seems that AMD doesn't support it - so, no eGPU, no external NVMe drives, etc.). Which is nice if you're using some kind of a USB "dock". Perhaps there are people who would enjoy that but have no clue it is possible. Really, this was the big deal with USB4 (one cable). Outside of that, at this point, you probably won't miss it. I mean, how many devices can make use of Gen 3 USB lanes?

That is, simply put, stupid marketers of companies simply do not know how to create signs of "elitism" in general that usual laptops for the rich Buratin. Therefore, they (marketers) simply order to turn off because no other options, significant, for an illiterate layman with money, are simply visually and tactile in "elite" series. To kill such trends, it is necessary that more the population should be technically competently, quite information and understands where they are bred for money.

But unfortunately, as academic science has already proved, the last 150-180 years, humanity has begun to stupid and has been going in this direction faster. Science, technology has become so complicated that an ordinary layman with clip thinking is so stupid that it becomes elementary to deceive it.

To the shame of Lenovo, the USB40 is brought from the SoC only in the new line T. Moreover, the full silence about eGPU (standart feature for Intel TB3.0-4.0) again, which means it is not there again and it means that mobile SOC from AMD all in clean loses to use options to use super-powerful desktop video accelerators with good cooling.

Only the T14s has USB4, not even the T16 has USB4.
Sorry, from memory, in a hurry, made a mistake. Really, as they wrote earlier in Z16 there are USB40 ports. Although the laughter is that they are in all SoC AMD without exception, starting with the 6xxx series. But greedy manufacturers for the sake of at least some distinction of "elite" series, do specifically withdraw these ports outward in ordinary series, although they must be (must) even in such a cheap as Ideapad 3. There is really the output of this port reaches a penny, when all the expensive logic is already in SoC AMD/Intel...

Imagine that greedy manufacturers would come up with a new chip of separation of "elite" series and "non-elite" - for example, they would disable iGPU in SoC. But in this case, they cannot do this, because then there will be nothing to display a picture on the screen without an external videochip, i.e. this is a key, this is a key, cryic functionality of SoC, necessary to save money without external videochip. And then it turns out that 97-98% of the population is not even aware that TB4.0 is built into _each_ mobile processor starting with Tiger Lake series for Intel and USB40 in _each_ mobile AMD processor, starting with Zen3+. It is the illiteracy of the townsfolk that allows marketers to create everything that they want and breed fools for money...

And it turns out again a complete discord. Intel processors are too hot, but there is TB4.0 in the SoC with eGPU, while AMD processors are much colder, but there is no TB4.0 (eGPU), and the vaunted USB40 is output in rare expensive lines, and not massively in the entire model (however, Intel variants have the same shame), including the initial ones. After all, consumers all over the world are still forced to pay for TB4.0 logic in Intel SoCs. And starting from 6xxxx, AMD still also forcibly overpays for the USB40 logic in the SoC, but cunning manufacturers do not bring it out to the ports, deliberately, although its output requires a penny power strapping, nothing more is needed, everything else is in the Intel and AMD SoCs . This is the current world of consumerism - when the resources of the planet are wasted, and vile marketers forbid putting SoC logic on ports, despite the fact that extra SoC resources are spent on it and consumers still overpay for it and Intel and AMD (since 2022) . This anti-rational behavior is dictated by the stupidity of ordinary consumers who are not versed in technology and pay more than they really should. And they pay more, because they still can in the "developed" world, due to irrationally high incomes, with irrationally low productivity (against the background of incomes). But this is coming to an end. We are seeing tectonic shifts all over the world. And this is very good. The world is obliged to become extremely rational in its behavior, ascetic and minimal income dispersion, if they are not dictated by intelligence and productivity for civilization as a whole.

You used the wrong coupon code. The total is $1,367 after applying the two codes mentioned in the article, see attached screenshot below.

Quote from: frahnwrong on June 25, 2022, 22:45:07The title is misleading and wrong.
It is NOT the 32GB model that is on sale for $1367, it is the 16GB model.
Frahn = wrong

The title is 100% correct and this deal is clearly for the 32GB model.

The high-end configurations of Lenovo's new 16-inch mobile workstation are usually a pretty expensive laptops, but thanks to a current deal at the Chinese manufacturer's official online shop, the new ThinkPad P16s can now be ordered at a significant discount just shortly after its release.
