One of the biggest problems with these Chinese smartphone adaptions from being fully a global success is their limitation.
Xiaomi, Meizu, etc. call themselves a global brand but most of them fail to reach and establish themselves in the world's biggest Western markets either due to fear of custom inspections, patent infringements, etc. but they can't be considered a global brand if they are only known within their borders or a few territories. 😏
The smart/electric car conglomerate Geely has now acquired a major share in the OEM Meizu, thus cementing rumors that the owner of Volvo, Polestar and other brands has an interest in smartphones as well. The merger may prove a lifeline for Meizu, which has fallen far behind others such as Xiaomi and OPPO as of late.
