Never buy another ASUS laptop again. Slow forever waiting crappy Softwares update and future hardware part issue on sub-model internal design with different parts lead to unbearable repair pain.
Yeah. I hear ya. I bought my wife a HP Envy x360 (Model 15-ee1093cl) with a 5700u, 12 gb ram and a 512 gb m.2 SSD last year for less than $700. First HP I'd bought in a long time because they used to suck. The build quality on this is pretty good, the battery lasts "Forever" and everything is easily serviceable. (less charge cycles on the battery should drastically improve longevity too)
As a guy who keeps laptops going as long as possible it's nice that I can pop a few screws on the bottom. pull the cover off and have direct access to everything. The M.2 SSD, Ram, wifi card, etc. are all upgradable.
It will take up to 64 gb ram which is a little nuts for an thin and light convertible laptop. Yeah there is bloatware on it but you can't really get away from that these days. you always have to go through and get rid of stuff you don't want on the budget laptops.
I'll probably get the next HP envy when it comes out with the 6000 series processors for my daughter. I'm building myself a enthusiast desktop PC in Q4 after Zen 4 releases.
