Apple hat angeblich zwischen 120.000 und 150.000 Wafer pro Monat gebucht, um die Chip-Versorgung des iPhone 14 sicherzustellen.

Die Frage ist, ob das wirklich 120-150.000 Wafer pro Monat oder Quartal sind oder nur eine Bestellung von 120-150.000 Wafer ist. Denn 120-150.000 Wafer-Pro-Monat entspricht 100% einer Giga-Fab, was mit einem so 110mm²-A16-Chip, was bei einer Yield von so 85% ziemlich genau 200 Mio. A16-Chip pro Quartal bedeutet. Aber das Apple verkauft im besten Quartal (4Q) höchsten 90 Mio. Stück iPhones, während Apple sonst 50-60 Mio. iPhones pro Quartal verkauft.

Der Prozessor des Apple iPhone 14 Pro macht auf dem Papier offenbar kaum Fortschritte, nicht zuletzt, weil TSMCs 3 nm-Verfahren nicht rechtzeitig für Apples Flaggschiff der nächsten Generation marktreif sein wird, sodass das Gerät bei einem 5 nm-Chip bleiben soll.
