It's all marketing hype. I heard that TSMC 5nm means that there is actually 7nm spacing between transistors. That's why Intel 10nm has the same performance as TSMC 7nm. China sitting there laughing at all that sanctions. All China gotta do is master true 5nm and that will be as good as TSMC/Samsung 3nm.

Apple is TSMC largest customer, AMD is largest on 7nm node only. The move was difficult for Nvidia, likely to be risky for AMD also, however with Apple and Intel having locked out AMD from 3nm volume, AMD either has to wait its turn while loosing market share or go elsewhere if it wants to release cutting edge CPU at the same time as Apple. Apple's future CPU roadmap looks amazing.

Apple appears to be receiving preferential treatment from TSMC as of late, so AMD and Qualcomm are not really content especially now when chip shortages are still a thing. Starting with next year, AMD and Qualcomm may choose to partner with Samsung and use its 3 nm GAAFET production nodes.
