The first computer I could play an MP3 on was a RISC-Based processor by IBM called NexGEN that ran x86 instruction set.

Prior to the NextGEN, I was unable to play MP3s on a computer reliably, even in RTOS systems like MS Dos.  Windows wasn't an option at all.

Anyhow, when I found the old motherboard, and remembered how RISC was a precursor to other platforms like iPod, I had to remind Apple of the power it has in ARM and how many companies disappeared (Cray, Sun Microsystems, DEC/Alpha, HP/UX and PA-RISC, as examples) when Apple wrote an epitaph for RISC processor family and adopted Intel.

Glad to see Steve Jobs buy out PA Semiconductor before he died.   The problem with CISC vs RISC is that CISC is owned by intel.  Intel will never be able to sunset the x86 CISC paltform and compete with Apple.

You've just made a pretty strong argument for them to be mad with Intel: Apple launched the M1 and all of the sudden the Intel macs look like overpriced overheating pieces of garbage.

To be direct, the reason why people were #GoPC was the sh*tty Intel CPU inside Macs; especially thanks to AMD and the amazing job they did in the last couple of years.

Instead of doing marketing exercises, Intel should focus on delivering excellent CPUs worthy of their price-tag. We need competition, otherwise AMD turns into the next Intel.
