That's actually part of the previous European mandate, much like today's Androids come with USB-A chargers connecting to USB-C plugs you have a similar cable arrangement in iPhones using Lightning instead of USB-C (that cable was in the box and is still provided by Apple as an official accessory). It would be nice if the "journalist" was actually informed about the matter instead of writing such nonsense.
