It's still a very decent chip. Not sure what's outdated about it. Can it not perform the same tasks as other ARM chips?
If they wanted the best performance for this device, they would have put an x86 CPU in it.
Would you be alright with an intel 80386? It's still a decent chip, it can do the same tasks as other x86 chips.
The 855 is fine in a vacuum just like the 80386 but in context the 855 was running x86 programs so slowly reviews talked about needing to wait for the computer to catch up to their keystrokes. That is unacceptably slow. There are better chips out there but they're not in use here, that is disappointing.
