About half of the laptops with this model number shipped with the slow RAM.

Some, however, shipped with faster stuff.  The model I have shipped with Micron 8ATF1G64HZ-3G2J1, which is 1Rx8.  I got lucky, I guess...

Older comment I know but still important today. This is a beast of a laptop. While the memory density is important (number)Rx8 or (number)Rx16, rank is equally important. Finding Dual Rank RAM is just as beneficial but getting harder to find, especially with chips shortages. So where I put ("number"), ideally you want a 2 indicating Dual Rank rather than Single Rank (1), not to be confused with channel.

Anyone considering this machine, make sure your SN begins with M7 or more preferably MA or MC. These are later revisions that corrected the liquid metal and failures that earlier models suffered from.

Best Buy, at least in the US, runs unannounced sales on this machine for between $1100 and $1300. I think it has to do with when negative reviews of when aforementioned failed machine owners leave negative reviews.

I got a late model SN brand new for $1100, a steal even in Q2 2022.

With the ROG Strix G15 G513QY, Asus adds a highly modern gaming laptop to its lineup that is fully geared towards AMD. The second-fastest mobile processor meets AMD's strongest mobile graphics card in the form of the brand-new AMD Radeon RX 6800M. Be careful, Intel and Nvidia!
